Yacht surveyors are professionals with great experience in yacht construction and systems and its operation. They use detailed and well known industry standards to fully report on the factual state of the yacht at the time of survey. Engaging a surveyor reduces risk and financial loss when purchasing and contributes to a better understanding of the condition of the yacht. Hiring a surveyor with knowledge and a diploma in surveying reduces the risk that standards and procedures will not be respected. It is important to note that the Surveyor acts in accordance with the client's instructions.

Basically, the price for the survey depends on lots of factors and scope of the survey. For example, the charge for the most common yacht survey (Pre-purchase) is calculated by formula in Euros: Length(feet) x Beam(feet) x complexity factor. Complexity factor range is from 1 to 2 and depends on the complexity of the yacht and its equipment. Please, contact us to get detailed survey quote.

We are certainly ready for international surveys with a timely announcement and an indication that travel and accommodation costs are charged additionally.

It depends on how tight our schedule is. Generally, we need 2-3 days to plan a survey. We will certainly react as soon as possible to find the best solution for your query.

It depends on the size of the yacht and the scope of the survey. Typically, a yacht up to 50 feet in size requires one full day. For larger yachts it can take. 2, 3 or more days.

Yes, in order to facilitate the survey process, it is necessary to have access to as many internal areas as possible, including equipment, systems, bilges and lockers. It is essential that all the owner's personal gear and belongings are removed from the yacht in order to gain good access. Please refer to our Yacht preparation for survey'  page.

Certainly, however, you must be aware that due to the complexity of the task, it will not be possible to comment on every defect that is found until we finish the survey.

The sea trial usually makes part of the pre-purchase survey.

For small and medium-sized yachts, the sea trial is usually conducted up to 2 hours. The engines are warmed up to operating temperature through various modes of operation and are tested with WOT (Wide Open Throttle) for 5 minutes. All yacht systems are tested in action.

Only visual inspection and some engine parts will be examined for condition and insurability. If a sea trial is included than more test can be carried out. This is simple test obtaining engine parameters and overall condition of engine systems and its performance. Our sea trial test is not a guarantee of the engine’s condition. For a complete inspection of the condition of the engine, it is safer to commission a mechanical engineer.

You will receive information about the end of the survey and a short briefing about the general condition of the yacht and the main issues that have been discovered. We ask for your understanding while we consolidate a complete report in which all relevant data will be listed.

We usually need up to 4 days after survey completition to consolidate and deliver the report. The report itself is very detailed with all the relevant particulars of the yacht and a description of each area that was inspected. Every defect or issue found will be described in detail, supported by a photo and a recommendation for remedial action will be given.

It would be our pleasure to see the works through to the end, but generally, this does not form part of the pre-purchase survey because such visits may generate additional costs which should be contracted separately.

The first step is to stay safe, then contact your insurance company which will usually use their own surveyor to assess and give their point of view of the damage. If you are not satisfied with outcome you can always commission your own boat surveyor.

Yes, we can inspect yachts made of composites, steel, aluminium and other building materials.

No, inspection of masts, rigging and other equipment is done visually from deck level.

There is no correct answer to that question because it depends on the use of the sailboat. As a kind of standard, a limit of about 10 years is taken for the mentioned actions, and most insurance companies will ask for their replacement and servicing as part of the conditions for insurance.

We recommend an inspection of the condition of the yacht at least every five years. In order to enjoy your cruise and be safe and peaceful, we definitely recommend an annual brief inspection and ‘health check’ of all vital parts of the yacht.
