Pre-Purchase Surveys for Yachts, Sailboats & Catamarans
YSA provides independent pre-purchase condition surveys for motor yachts, sailing yachts, monohull sailboats, sailing catamarans, motor catamarans and other recreational craft throughout Croatia and the Adriatic.
Why it matters.
The purpose of the survey is to provide the prospective purchaser with an independent professional assessment of the vessel’s condition at the time of inspection and to identify deficiencies that may materially affect safety, structural integrity, functionality, reliability or value.
Three stages of inspection
Haul-out and underwater inspection
Inspection of the underwater hull, appendages, through-hull fittings, propulsion and steering components and other accessible underwater elements.
Sea trial
Operational assessment of propulsion, steering and selected vessel systems under realistic operating conditions, subject to weather, sea state, vessel loading, safety and logistical constraints.
Typical inspection areas
Typical inspection areas may include:

The survey is non-destructive unless otherwise agreed. Areas that are inaccessible, concealed or cannot be tested within the available circumstances are identified as limitations within the report.
Sailing Yachts & Sailboats
Surveys of sailing yachts and sailboats may additionally include inspection of accessible mast, spars, standing and running rigging, chainplates and their visible supporting structure, deck hardware, keel arrangement, rudder system and sailing-related equipment.
Unless specifically agreed, mast climbing, unstepping, dismantling of fittings and invasive rigging inspection are not included.
Sailing & Motor Catamarans
Catamaran surveys require particular attention to the vessel’s multihull structure and arrangement, including accessible bridge-deck structure, cross-structure, bulkheads, structural bonding, hull connections, twin propulsion installations and rig-related areas where applicable.
The inspection scope is adapted to the construction, systems and arrangement of the individual vessel.
Motor Yachts
Motor-yacht surveys place particular emphasis on machinery spaces, propulsion and steering systems, fuel systems, generators, stabilisation systems where fitted, electrical installations and vessel behaviour during sea trial.
