Technical Yacht & Boat Inspections

YSA provides focused technical inspections limited to a defined scope — from hull and structure to moisture investigation, thermal imaging, cathodic protection and sea trial assessment.

Why it matters.

These inspections are commissioned when a full condition survey is not required, or when a specific defect, system or area of the vessel needs independent investigation and clearly documented findings.

Hull & Structural Inspection

Focused inspection of hull shell, internal structure, bulkheads, stiffeners, bonded structural members, keel structure and other accessible structural elements.

Moisture Investigation + Percussion Testing

Comparative moisture measurement of GRP hulls, decks and other composite structures. Readings are interpreted together with construction type, coatings, environmental conditions, percussion response and other available evidence. Localised percussion testing may help identify changes in acoustic response associated with laminate or bonding anomalies.

Thermal Imaging

Infrared thermal imaging may support investigation of temperature patterns associated with moisture, insulation anomalies or other irregularities.

Hull Potential & Cathodic Protection Assessment

Measurement of underwater hull and immersed-metal potentials using an Ag/AgCl reference electrode to assess cathodic-protection performance, galvanic-corrosion risk and abnormal potential conditions.

Readings are interpreted in relation to vessel construction, immersed metals, sacrificial-anode or impressed-current systems, bonding arrangements and environmental conditions. Abnormal or unstable values may indicate the need for further electrical investigation, including assessment for possible stray-current corrosion.

Sea Trial Assessment

Operational assessment of propulsion, steering and selected vessel systems under realistic operating conditions, subject to the circumstances and limitations of the trial.
